Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, Shimi relocated and trained at the Guildford School of Acting where he graduated with distinction receiving a BA in Musical Theatre Studies and at the Impulse Theatre Company led by Scott Williams.
Theatre work includes: Orthodox Man/Soldier in the world premiere of Paper Dolls (Tricycle), Cobweb and understudy/play Oberon and Frances Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream and understudy/play Tateh and Houdini in Ragtime (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), Minister/Specialist in The Who's Tommy (The English Theatre, Frankfurt), Mary Sunshine in Chicago (Cambridge Theatre), Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain (Broadway studio), Che in Evita (National Tour), Prince, Wolf and Florinda in Into the Woods (Gatehouse), Douglas in Party time and Hooded Man in Mountain Language (Landor), Spanish singer as well as understudy/play Robbie Gould in the original cast of Dirty Dancing (Aldwych), creating the principal role of Samuel in the world première of Salt & Honey (Mount Scopus Amphitheatre, Jerusalem), Swing and understudy/play Mary Sunshine in Chicago (Adelphi), Ensemble and understudy/play Akaash in Bombay Dreams (Apollo Victoria), Ensemble in Anyone Can Whistle (Bridewell), Don Jose in Carmen (Rosin Centre, Tel Aviv).
